Updated: 3 October 2026
Argentina’s Ministry of Economy announced the financial requirements for its forthcoming Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program on 2 October 2026, during Argentina Week in Paris. Applications are expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2026, although an exact date has not been specified. (argentina.gob.ar)
The announcement sets out the main investment amounts and family inclusion criteria. The government has yet to publish the full fee schedule, detailed application procedures and final bond terms.
Two announced investment routes
The program will offer two routes:
- Route Announced amount for the principal applicant
- Non-refundable contribution to the National Treasury US$350,000
- Subscription to a government bond created specifically for the program US$800,000
Both options were included in the government’s announcement. (argentina.gob.ar)
The Treasury contribution is non-refundable. Applicants considering the bond route will need to review its final terms, including the holding period, repayment conditions and any restrictions on transfer or early exit. The bond carries investment risk and should not be presented as guaranteeing capital preservation.
Family inclusion and additional contributions
Spouses and eligible children may apply alongside the principal applicant, subject to proof of the family relationship and the required contributions to the National Treasury.
Family member Announced eligibility Additional Treasury contribution
- Spouse Proof of spousal relationship US$100,000
- Adult child Aged 18–25, unmarried and without children US$100,000 per child
- Minor child Under 18 US$25,000 per child
For a principal applicant, spouse and two children under 18, the total Treasury contribution would be US$500,000. (argentina.gob.ar)
These figures should not be treated as the total cost of an application. Government charges, document preparation expenses and professional fees need to be confirmed separately. The final procedures should also clarify when a child’s age is assessed for eligibility.
| Family member | Announced eligibility | Additional Treasury contribution |
|---|---|---|
| Spouse | Proof of spousal relationship | US$100,000 |
| Adult child | Aged 18–25, unmarried and without children | US$100,000 per child |
| Minor child | Under 18 | US$25,000 per child |
Residence requirements
Argentina established the legal basis for citizenship by investment in 2025. The framework allows qualifying investors to apply without completing the ordinary two-year residence period. Any travel or attendance requirements must still be checked against the final application procedures. (argentina.gob.ar)
Application assessment and approval
Applications will undergo checks covering identity, the lawful origin of funds, financial history, criminal and reputational records, and immigration history. Funds must be transferred through the formal financial system.
The investment citizenship agency will assess each application and submit its recommendation to the National Directorate of Migration, which will decide whether to approve or reject it. (argentina.gob.ar)
Meeting the investment threshold does not guarantee citizenship. Applicants will need documents confirming their identity, family relationships and the lawful origin of their funds.
