Great news from Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, Sean Fraser! He recently unveiled the inclusion of 13 additional countries to the electronic travel authorization (eTA) program. This expanded list features Citizenship by Investment (CBI) nations such as Antigua & Barbuda, Saint Kitts & Nevis, and Saint Lucia.
If you’re a national from these countries who have either possessed a Canadian visa in the past decade or currently holds a valid non-immigrant United States visa, you can apply for an eTA instead of a visa when travelling to Canada by air. Application for an eTA is a breeze – you can apply online, and approvals are typically granted within minutes. Upon approval, the eTA generally remains valid for a five-year period.
The citizens of Antigua, St. Lucia, and St. Kitts & Nevis who have not held a Canadian visa in the past decade, do not currently possess a valid US visa, or are entering Canada by land or sea, will still be required to secure conventional visas. Individuals currently possessing a valid Canadian visa can continue utilizing it for entry into Canada.
