Background of the Moldova CBI Program
Moldova introduced its Citizenship by Investment program in 2018 with the objective of attracting foreign capital through contributions to a Public Investment Fund. The program allowed eligible applicants to obtain Moldovan citizenship through a financial contribution and due diligence checks.
However, following political and regulatory concerns, the program was suspended and later discontinued. New applications are no longer accepted.
Current Pathways to Moldovan Citizenship
Today, Moldovan citizenship may generally be obtained through traditional legal routes such as:
- Citizenship by descent
- Citizenship by naturalisation after lawful residence
- Citizenship through marriage to a Moldovan citizen
These pathways require compliance with residency rules and statutory eligibility requirements.
