The Vanuatu Citizenship by Investment Programme is one of the world’s fastest government-approved citizenship programmes, offering eligible investors the opportunity to obtain Vanuatu citizenship through a qualifying financial contribution. Designed for discerning individuals and families, the programme provides an efficient pathway to a second citizenship while supporting Vanuatu’s national development.

Located in the South Pacific, Vanuatu is a peaceful island nation known for its stable political environment, favourable tax framework, and straightforward citizenship process. The programme has no residency, language, education, or prior business experience requirements, making it an attractive option for qualified international investors seeking greater global flexibility.

Applicants who successfully satisfy the government’s eligibility requirements, including comprehensive due diligence and compliance checks, may obtain Vanuatu citizenship within a relatively short timeframe. As international travel policies may change over time, prospective applicants should consider the programme’s broader long-term benefits, including personal, business, and lifestyle advantages, rather than passport mobility alone.

Why Choose Vanuatu?

Located in the South Pacific Ocean, the Republic of Vanuatu is an independent island nation comprising approximately 80 islands. It is situated:

  • Approximately 1,750 km east of Australia.
  • West of Fiji.
  • East of New Caledonia.
  • Southeast of the Solomon Islands.

Vanuatu offers an attractive combination of natural beauty, political stability, and an investor-friendly environment. With English, French, and Bislama as its official languages, the country is well positioned to serve international investors, entrepreneurs, and globally minded families.

Key features include:

  • Tropical climate with warm temperatures throughout the year.
  • Stable parliamentary democracy and membership in the Commonwealth of Nations.
  • No residency, language, or interview requirements to obtain citizenship.
  • Favourable tax environment, with no personal income tax, wealth tax, inheritance tax, or capital gains tax.
  • A government-regulated Citizenship by Investment Programme.
  • An economy supported by tourism, agriculture, international financial services, and foreign investment.

Benefits of Vanuatu Citizenship

The Vanuatu Citizenship by Investment Programme offers a range of advantages for eligible investors seeking greater international mobility, asset diversification, and a valuable second citizenship. While individual objectives vary, Vanuatu citizenship may provide both personal and commercial benefits for internationally active individuals and their families.

Fast and Efficient Processing

Vanuatu is recognised for offering one of the fastest citizenship by investment programmes available. Subject to successful completion of the government’s due diligence process and timely submission of all required documentation, applications are typically processed within a relatively short timeframe.

Family Inclusion

The programme allows the principal applicant to include eligible family members within a single application, making it an attractive solution for families seeking long-term security and greater international flexibility.

Dual Citizenship Permitted

Vanuatu recognises dual citizenship, allowing successful applicants to retain their original nationality where permitted by the laws of their home country.

No Residency or Language Requirements

Applicants are not required to reside in Vanuatu before or after obtaining citizenship. There are also no language proficiency, educational, or management experience requirements under the programme.

Attractive Tax Environment

Vanuatu operates a favourable tax regime and does not generally impose personal income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, or wealth tax. However, citizenship alone does not automatically establish tax residency, and applicants should seek independent tax advice based on their individual circumstances.

International Mobility

A Vanuatu passport provides visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to numerous countries and territories. Entry requirements are subject to change and vary depending on the destination. Following changes introduced by the European Union, Vanuatu passport holders currently require a visa to enter the Schengen Area.

Commonwealth Membership

As a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, Vanuatu maintains longstanding diplomatic and economic relationships with other Commonwealth countries, providing additional international recognition and cooperation.

Straightforward Application Process

The programme features a clear application process supported by comprehensive government due diligence, ensuring that only qualified applicants who satisfy the programme’s legal and compliance requirements are approved.

Passport Renewal

Vanuatu passports are generally issued with a validity period in accordance with the government’s passport regulations and may be renewed in accordance with the applicable legislation.

A Peaceful South Pacific Lifestyle

Beyond the investment programme itself, Vanuatu offers a unique island environment characterised by tropical landscapes, pristine beaches, cultural diversity, and a relaxed lifestyle. For many investors, citizenship provides not only greater global flexibility but also the opportunity to establish a meaningful connection with one of the South Pacific’s most beautiful island nations.
